Button earring holder

Traveling with earrings has always been a problem for me.  I usually put all of my earrings together in a small bag and when it comes time to finding a pair to wear, it's a mess.  The earrings are tangled together and the little earrings are always hiding.  This simple trick is a great way to organize your earrings in a way that each pair of earrings stays together and are easy to access.  All you do is get a button and put the earrings through the holes.  It's just that simple!

Braided T-shirt Headband

I got this idea from Make it and love it. She has so many great ideas on her blog. It's amazing how talented some ladies are. I have a bunch of old t-shirts in my craft closet so I took them out and started making headbands. If you want very clear instructions on how to make these headbands go here.

1. Cut five 2 inch strips that are twice the length of your head. 2 inch strips make a thicker headband. If you want a thinner headband, made thinner strips.

2. Sew (by hand or machine) the 5 strips together.

3. Pull the strips so they stretch out and curl a little on the edges.

4. Braid away (it's like braiding 2 braids together)

5. Once you reach the end sew the end of the braid. You want the braid to fit around your head, with a pull. You don't want it too loose or too tight.

6. Sew the two sides together. I did this by hand.

7. Take a rectangular piece of fabric to cover up the "mess" of the two sides of the braid meeting.

8. Wear it! Give it as a gift!

Hair clips

Wherever I go these days I see clips, bows, headbands, and flowers in babies, toddlers, kiddos, teenagers, young adults, and moms' hair. However, I have yet to see a grandma wearing these fancy decorations in their hair. I have seen all different sizes of these flowers/bows in hairs -- tiny bows on newborns' head (no hair) all the way to little girls wearing bows 3/4 the size of their head.

I decided to experiment with making hair accessories.

Materials needed:

* Flowers

* Hair clips (from craft store)

* Hot glue gun

* Decorative Brads

* Stylin' ribbon

Here's how:

1. Select and stack your favorite combination of flower blossoms.

2. Insert brad through flower centers.

3. Insert brad through the decorative side of ribbon 1 1/2'' from end. Flatten brad legs.

4. With hot glue, adhere the clip on back of flower, centered with flat side up.

5. Apply hot glue to short end of ribbon and fold to inside of open clip.

6. Apply hot glue to longer end of ribbon and wrap in and out of clip handle.

7. Clip your new flower in your hair, on your hat, on your backpack, or anywhere your heart desired.

Next time I make these (if I ever do) I would a greater variety of colors. I think some of the flowers are just too plain--- white.
